Why are Indian men so conservative?

You go to a party and expect the girl to shake her hips and dance for the maniac songs playing…you don’t mind if she takes one or two puffs…drinking is absolutely no problem in fact you cheer them up saying ” wow this is the first time I have seen a girl chug down a whole beer bottle”

So what happens when its time for marriage?
Virgin -of course
Boyfriends- No No
Religious-yes
Smoking – No way
Drinking- please leave my house

If you don’t do certain things and expect the same with your better half that’s understandable…
But if that’s not the case…shove it

Bunch of hypocrites

true...it is hypocrisy when such guys do this. When i read the topic of your post "Why are Indian men so conservative?", I was expecting something on the conservativeness of "Indian men" and a doubt from your side as to what is the reason behind this...but the end was "If you to don’t do certain things and expect the same with your better half that’s understandable..." which means u do understand the conservativeness of the conservative Indian men (phew!) and then "But if that’s not the case...shove it"...the last one, as u already pointed out, is not conservativeness, but hypocrisy :)

romba ulariteno?! :D

Hello,
I wish to say something on this post, though not a good writer.
Nor a well learned man,Me just a small man in this small world doin some small work.
But still,ur post needs some real thing to go with.
As a read it is very articulative and i guess i have something to share on this.

The first part of shaking a leg i think u still find married women shaking a leg or two once in a while either in the arms of their husbands or their in one of those many family parties.

"you don’t mind if she takes one or two puffs…drinking is absolutely no problem in fact you cheer them up saying ” wow this is the first time I have seen a girl chug down a whole beer bottle”",

Now the above sentence needs a bit of thinking cause when u have man who says this to or thinks like this towards his female interest then the object in mind is very clearly known, it is just to take a women to bed.
But when i as a man am looking to marry its not tht i search for somebody perfect, it is just tht since we are all slaves of this society we need certain qualities for a woman,
I am not against women smoking or drinking nor i am with them too.
In my own eyes i can smoke i can drink but a woman cant, because we consider women as Pure, caring, loving and a smoking drinking woman would be very bad to visualise as the a women with the above said qualities.
Men especiallz Indian men are pretty close to their mothers.
They have grown up seeing their mother hold the house together, sacrifice her life for the happiness of her family and this is the beauty of India.

I know this aint even a niche nearer to the answer but this is good enough for a thought towards it i guess...!

i think the virgnity issue is long gone from the minds of the indian men of the new and young india, but if it still exists and if u have come across,
the reason is the same as to why a married woman would get hyper when she knows her husband is sleeping with another woman.

Women are hyper sensitive. For men an affair means just the physical attraction.
But when the same happens for a woman it is not just tht,it goes beoynd it.
Their is an emotional bonding on the lower layer.this layer makes it close to impossible to genreate a vibrant aura around the new relation.
Again i know this is not the perfect answer but in m eyes this is the truth..

u once asked me how come i never commented u but had u on my blogroll,
now u have a comment from me..

ofcourse da..there r some indian men who dont smoke..and will not let others smoke too...

Agree completely with Kavitha. We Indian Men ARE hypocrites..no doubts about it. And no justification is possible. Hopefully things change as we open up more to the new world and come out of the cocoon that we are living in.
I am a man and it still pisses me off seeing how chauvinistic men are! I am a staunch feminist and believe that girls also have their own ways of looking at world.
I despise men who say one thing and do the opposite. I have seen many friends of mine still demanding dowry (yes....even in this new age!)..just because he happens to work for some shitty software company (nope....I have nothing against software companies..please).

@anonymous...cut the crap of "Women are pure, caring, sacrificial lambs" etc etc. The pureness of a woman and other qualities have absolutely nothing to do with whether they shake their hips or legs, whether they drink or smoke. In your logic, it would mean that men are impure, uncaring and selfish!

Sorry Kavi for ranting..but this is one thing I am a staunch supporter of. Hypocrite men are simply NO NO in this age. And girls better stay away from such brutes!

Hi Kavitha (i hope this is ur real name).

A very short, cute and agreeable post. I agree with you whatever you have said BUT a small change.

Of course we do think the majority is on the MALE gender but don't you agree with me if i say there are quite a few in FEMALE as well?

Irrespective of the gender who does, they should honestly look within and get out of it! - this is what i feel.

I remember in the movie "Kaadhal Kottai', Karan says a dialogue something similar to this post!

Hats off!

My best wishes for this post be a triggering factor for atleast a few who falls in that category!

Cheers,
Raghavan alias Saravanan M.
