Life is great

The roosters wake you up at 3am, 4am, 5am and so on
The food supply in the stores runs out in one day
The locals play their whinny music so loud at 1am
The sun just burns you to an extent that you end up looking a tar
The power going out is a weekly event
The amount of studying just swallows your sleep

Yet...Life is great with friends like these

Like branches of a tree we grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one. Each of our lives will always be a special part of the other's.

**Special thanks to all those who made my birthday very memorable**

But i still hate it

Curd Rice never tasted so good in my life. Thanks to my mom who always mixed it and placed it in my plate even before i could start eating anything else. "Its a balanced well nourished food" she would say.

Now i have no choice other than looking at my plate filled with curd rice and rejoicing those moments.
Thanks to my sister who hates it too...i wish i loved that damn thing so i don't have to starve here.

**Yogurt..yes that's the American way of saying it..sounds weird..i will stick to my Desi way**

You know your engulphed by studying when

<> You close your eyes and all you can see is little cute cells floating around and different type muscles moving in different directions.

<> You set your alarm to get up after an hour of nap in the afternoon and you wake thinking “wow its morning already”. I don’t have to stay up all night to study.

<> You make something to eat in the very less time you get and even after realizing that it tastes like crap you put it in a box and store it for the next 3 days.

<>You keep looking at the time when someone calls and think you could have finished reading one page in these 15 minutes.

<> You look forward to sleep for those 4-5 hours.

My theory for the coming years- The more I know, the less I kill.

The worst thing someone can do is to compare food with a cadaver. "Umm that looks like chicken meat from that angle" ...Who the hell does that?

Stupid guy...ruined my appetite to eat chicken for the next month or so.

Welcome to Statia

Statia...i have never heard about this place in my life before...never imagined in my slightest of dreams that i would end up here to fulfill my dreams.

So here i am trying to figure out what to do next...what to cook next...what to study next...

Life in Statia is very simple....people are so friendly that i am scared to go out. i have to wave and say hello to everyone that walks by...doesn't matter even if its a small boy. my shoulder joints are paining right now after a 10 min walk...so imagine how many times i would have raised my arms.

Well you can chose to put your head down and pretend that you don't notice anyone...but when its time for your clinical..you have to encounter with these people to do all your tests..and these people remember your face simply because they consider you rude if you don't smile or wave at them....and who forgets rude and evil people?

Its a very beautiful island but i am afraid that i am only going to be left with memories of my dreadful studying.

Anyways you all enjoy your life and tell me about all your colorful things and i will update with all my atrocious ones.

BTW i can see the Atlantic ocean from my room...isnt that cool?

P.S- Thanks a lot for all your wishes and advice

Sniff..Sniff..Bye for now

First of all thanks to all those people who were concerned about what happened to me in the past one month. One of them asked if I had killed some patient illegally and absconded from this planet. Some great I friends I have.

So I need two things from all of you
A good advice
Pray for me

Plan for the next 3 years
I am off to Caribbean islands to finish my MD program. In a year I will be in US doing my rotations and Residency. I am not sure if I will be able to blog as often as I used to but I will try to update whenever I get some time in my hands which I highly doubt.

Time for some advice…anything and everything to help me get through this tough phase of my life. Living away from home…cooking on my own…no more partying…no more first day movie shows…no more sight seeing (Raz you have to update me on this..lol)…

Hope you guys don’t miss my blabbering posts too much.

Missing those childhood treats

Thain/then mittai

Kadala mittai

Wheel chips (no brand/no name)

Milk bikies

Aavin paalkhoa (this is the best)

Kismi bar

Amul butter

Vegetable puffs

Rose milk

Soan papdi

Nutrine chocolates

Ferrero Rosher is one of my favorite chocolates after Cadburys Dark..but nothing can beat all these fabulous treats that I have had in the past. And the most amazing thing is that you just have to walk to the nearest “potti kadai” to get all of this.

Love is all we need

A lady in my hospital asked me yesterday “how do you manage to have a smile in your face if all you’re seeing is fear, worries and negativity every day? “

I asked her “how are you able smile now when you know that the disease your husband is suffering from has no cure”
She looked at me for a second and gave me a tight hug.

You either get used to the things around you or you simply act like you did.

Among all the hardships
Between all the sorrows
Within all the difficulties

Amid all the variance
Life still seems beautiful

I wonder why?
Is it because of you?

I can’t say how I feel

Why is it so hard for me to express my feelings?
I often wonder about this but never get a clear answer. I have so much of love built up in my heart for everyone around me. But they never come out in words. Simply because I don’t show it or maybe I don’t know how to show it.
I keep thinking to myself that people who are close to me will know how I feel but they never do. Even if they have a slightest worry I can easily recognize and sense how they are feeling. But till now no one has ever judged me right. I keep smiling all the time but that doesn’t mean that I am happy all the time. I guess I act too well.
Anyone else felt the same way?

If someone smokes or drinks..Does that make them a bad person?
We can say it’s a bad habit but we can’t say that their character is bad.

Something that frustrates me… “Don’t be friends with him/her…they smoke”

....

Sometimes I wonder to myself how pathetic my life has become.
This is not a business it’s my life. And no matter how hard I shout from here no one is here to hear that. Yes I am talking about my marriage. And NO… I am not got getting married any time soon :)
I was talking to my uncle today and as usual he brought the topic about my marriage. He told me that he has seen couple of guys and the next time I go to India select one of them and see if I get along with them.
So on what basis do I select this guy?
Education?
Character?
Family?
Or how much he loves me?

And how would I know who that guy is?

She builds this sand castle with perfection only to find out that waves have crushed it the next day. This is every girls dream. To find a guy who loves her more than anything else in his world.

I would rather let him choose me and this is the point where I leave it to fate. Destiny is something we choose to go after.... Fate is something that happens to us, and seemingly takes away our choices, but in fact actually leads us back towards the choice of Destiny we already made before we were born.

So i wait for who- ever- you- are to knock my door.

~Every Indian girls fate~

Some things to learn

27 yr old guy-->Multiple sclerosis-->lives alone-->mother died when he was 21 and father remarried-->unable to walk-->studying in college and is graduating this year.

Only when we come across people like this we think how great our life is. I learn everyday from my patients. Often we get so caught up in the every day grind of living we forget to truly appreciate what we have. I'm not just talking about a home, food and clothes.

I am so proud of him and I really hope he has a bright future. As I think about his “bright future” tears automatically start forming in my eyes. Sometimes I think god if not fair with everyone. I wish I had the power to increase his life span by 10 more years.

***Multiple sclerosis is degenerative disease which affects the central nervous system. No known cure.

My hero

I can’t help wondering today where the years have gone since you were just my little girl,
Reaching out for me to hold you, to protect you, to love you
I can’t help remembering those days,
but I also see you as you are now- mature and strong,
no longer in need of me to protect you
I hope you know, that I am still here to hold you when you want me to and always, always to love you.

That’s exactly how my dad feels every time I take a step forward in my life. I don’t want him to think that I am old enough to take care of myself. I don’t want him to let go of me thinking I know everything. It feels great to know that no matter what happens he will always be there for me to offer his unconditional love.
I think there is nothing wrong in doing certain things that makes him feel better. If asking for permission every time I go out is what he wants, I would be happy to give him that small pleasure. If consulting him before making any decision is what he expects, why not give him that authority to do so. After all he was the one who made decisions about my life when I was young.

I'm daddy's little girl, not because I need it...but because he loves me that way, and because I've been blessed with the maturity to see the wonder of it all.

I need you

To teach me how to ride a bike
To show me the right thing in my life
To stand up for me when others blame me
To fight for me when a guy teases me
To show your plate when someone forces me to eat my-not- so- favorite vegetable
To guide me to make decisions
To make special food for me
To protect me from evil eyes
To help me set up my computer
To walk with me when I feel lonely
To crack a joke if I feel down
To cry with me
To play with me
To feed me when i am stressed
To help me help others
To stay awake till I reach home in the night
To be with me forever

Where are you when I need you?
I want my brother back

Naked truth

Tagged by Raj and Avi

I think I have written a tag along the same lines a while ago.

In the 8 Facts about Yourself, you share 8 things that your readers don’t know about you. Then at the end you tag at least 8 other bloggers to keep the fun going. Here are the rules.

RULES:* Each blogger must post these rules first.* Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.* Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.* Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.****

When I am with a group of people I tend to talk to people that i have just met more than my own friends.

I don’t like when little kids call me aunty. I will make sure that from the next time they call me akka :). Cha appdi enna vayasu aagi pochi ennakku

I have treasured all the greeting cards given to me ever since my 9th birthday.

I am scared that I will eventually become a heartless person working in this field.

I love driving and I hate when people cut me off.

I put pillayar suzhi before beginning to write my exam.

I can’t fall asleep without music.

For some reason i am attracted to rowdy and porriki guys ;)

We are special

Females have always been captive in a social, political and religious status. Always underestimated and given servile social roles.
The historic belief of being quite and imposed inferiority of women is becoming less common in some countries.

Time to think
Don’t be with a person who is abusive. It all starts with just one slap. (But you can slap him as many times you want ;) )

Feel free to get out of the kitchen. There is no law saying that only women should cook.

Have the full rights to work and share the burden of the family.

Have your own vehicle so you can be more independent.

Please don’t have a shared bank account with your husband cuz you won’t know where half of the money disappears.

Don’t hesitate to fight for your equality.

For a change ask a guy to sing and dance in bride viewing ceremony. Hehe

Behind every man’s success there is a woman. Remember we are the ones, who bear all their pain, I guess that’s why we are always left behind.

"There never will be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect lawmakers." Susan B. Anthony

Love Knows No Boundaries

All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

I am Prakash, also known as Jeeva by my family and close friends. I am originally from Madurai, our family moved to Chennai when I was three. So, basically Chennai is everything for me. It holds a lot of precious memories in my life from school till my college days. I did my engineering in Anna University and got selected for a high paying job right away. Now I am an employee working and living alone for 2 years. My parents moved back to Madurai to live with their parents and I visit them every month if my work permits to take a 3 day leave.

So that ties almost everything about my background and my life. But I didn’t start this story to talk about myself. I wanted to talk about my present life. Something that knocked me unexpectedly with a sudden shock…with a sudden surprise.

Her name is Geeta, Geeta Prakash. Just by saying my name after hers makes me smile to myself with a heart full of satisfaction. She walked into my life when I was about to leave to UK for 2 years, officially of course. I had gone to the shopping center to take a passport size photo and while coming back I accidentally bumped into her and broke her beautiful clay pot that she was carrying in her hand.
I looked at her and I didn’t realize that I was looking at her face instead of apologizing to her, at that moment I felt something in my heart. No wait in my stomach. You won’t understand it’s a very different kind of feeling, a feeling that I have never experienced before.
Something you would feel if you were to come down from a roller coaster. I knew right away that she was the one; I looked at the dismay on her face when she bent down to pick the broken pieces. I must have said sorry at least a thousand times that she broke into laughter uttering “that’s ok”. In the mean time her friend came running noticing the situation and picked her things and left the place giving me a dirty look.

I kept staring at both of them until they disappeared into the crowd. Who would have thought that this girl will devastate my sleep and appetite? I thought that love was a waste of time, but after I saw her I had to change my mind. I couldn’t sleep in the night; every time I close my eyes I think about her or dream about her. The clock just ticked away and in no time it was morning. Has this ever happened to you guys?

My next concern was to find out who she was and where she lived. Well being an Alaipayuthe fan I had some hope that I will find her somewhere. To my luck I saw her again in one of the restaurants that I regularly visit, sitting with her same friend who I saw that day. I approached her and said “I want to marry you”. Her friend looked at me with a big question mark while Geeta just stared at the open space not knowing what I was talking about. Her friend got up from her seat and told me to leave the place. I went close to Geeta held her hands and said, I am not going to force you and you don’t have to love me back. You must be thinking “who is this crazy guy jumping out of knowhere asking for my hand”….I just told you what I feel. I know it’s very hard for you to decide now, but I can wait. I placed my visiting card in her table and left.

Two weeks later, I got a call from her friend saying she wants to talk to me about Geeta and her family. We both agreed to meet in a common place and chatted for couple of hours. She seemed satisfied with my answers and expectation out of our relation. Next thing in my list was to meet geeta’s parents, with no further delay I visited them and took their permission too.
Now everything was set other than geeta’s own approval. I wanted to see her but my stupid gut made me stop . I called her that night and proposed my love again; she said she wanted some time to think. That one day was like hell for me. I couldn’t concentrate in anything.

She called me the next day and said agreed for our marriage. I had no words to express over the phone so I just ran to her house and hugged her tight.

Our marriage took place after 2 months and my life was complete.

6 months have passed by and today is a big day for me and Geeta. All these days she has seen the world through my eyes. After this eye surgery her world will be filled with colors. She doesn’t have to imagine my face anymore. I am eagerly waiting to see the happiness in her eyes when she sees her parents.
Beauty won’t be a mystery to her after this.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt within the heart.

That special person

Who are the special persons in your life that you can call in times of suffering, when u suddenly feel very anxious, depressed and fearful at 3am.

It can not be ur parents, siblings, bf or gf. Don’t repeat a friends name twice.

I couldn’t think of more than 2 people whom I would be comfortable to disturb at that odd time. One could have hundreds of people around them but it’s very important that you know that one person who will be always there with you no matter what.

It sure makes me feel lonely.

Love and Hate- Tag

Tagged by Anu and Raja (i am sorry i took almost a month to complete this :) )

Love and hate almost like two opposite things but one is not possible without the other.
We may love something so much that eventually it can turn into hate. Love turns into hate and hate into love then there is no difference left.

I Love:
My LIFE. I am very content with what I am and where I am. Small hassles and complains are part of everyone’s life. But without those things life would be bland.

I hate:
Fate
Poverty
Politics
Racism
Caste system
Insecurity
Helplessness
Arrogance and etc etc etc

Each day is different in our life, so I don’t want to put any barricades to do certain things this whole year. I will take life as it comes and make changes to make my living a comfortable and better one.

I hope I win a lottery so I can buy Mercedes Benz.
I hope I can get a masters degree without working and studying my ass off.

I hope I lose so much weight and look hot like bipasha basu.

Ithu ellam adatha janmathla nadakkum…
